Work With Me
One-to-One Sessions
“By placing yourself inside a gesture, it is possible to trace the meaning and sense of that gesture.” Susan Harper
“If a metaphor is alive in you, you hear it through your body.” Marion Woodman
What to expect in a dream work session
This is a session in three parts. We’ll begin by attuning to breath, space, and a felt sense of being here now. I’ll guide you from this place into the dream, taking your lead as we explore how it is unfolding through you. This is most often initiated by telling the story of your dream. My experience is that once invited, the dream images will send their trembling, pulsing presence into our shared space. Like snowflakes, every dream and every dreamer is unique. A gesture, a sound, a phrase, a color, an urge to dialogue with an image, tears, a sense of wonder or awe any one of these and many more possibilities may emerge within the simple and profound act of sharing your dream. In conclusion, we’ll make sure to transition carefully from dreamwork so that you can move into the day or week with the insights you have been given.
What is a dream worker and why work with your dreams?
A dreamworker is a guide, a mentor, and a fellow traveler. It can be a relief at times to open our dreams to another. This is ancient work practiced in indigenous cultures the world over by the shamans, witches, crones, and healers of the community. They are the ones who receive the dream, bearing witness with deep respect. The intersecting point between the dreamworker and the dreamer is the liminal space created by the dream where “temporal structures metamorphose into something else.” (David Abram)
Over time and with continued interest in dreams, the veil between our awake/suface sense of things and deeper psyche becomes thinner, “opening us to spontaneous occurrences, to snatches, glimpses, glimmers of this or that from the deeper psyche.”(Russell Lockhart) This awakens us to the gift of story and to the ongoing story moving through us, connecting us to one another, both in our present moment and in deep time. And to our own indigeneity.
Ethics and Confidentiality
The following is taken from the International Association for the Study of Dreams website (IASD) Ethics and Confidentiality page.
IASD supports an approach to dreamwork and dream sharing that respects the dreamer’s dignity and integrity and recognizes the dreamer as the decision-maker regarding the dream's significance. Systems of dreamwork that assign authority or knowledge of the dream’s meanings to someone other than the dreamer can be misleading, incorrect, and harmful. Ethical dreamwork helps dreamers work with their own dream images, feelings, and associations, and guides dreamers to more fully experience, appreciate, and understand the dream.
Dreamwork outside of a clinical setting is not a substitute for psychotherapy or other professional services.
Anything shared within the context of our meeting remains private and confidential.
Social and cultural influences are certain to show up in your dreams. I will take my lead from your associations rather than overlay my own cultural influences on your images.

Dream Groups
We gather around the fire of a dream, celebrating its incompleteness and contradiction and warming ourselves with the creativity that emerges. Our way of being with dreams respects the uniqueness of the images that appear to each one of us. Coming together as a group is our way of acknowledging that we share agency with dream images, ancestors, microbes, rivers, pets, coffee mugs, and each other. Using a simple structure that centers both the dream and our creative urges, we’ll take turns bringing dreams into the group and responding to them. Email anarticulatebody@gmail.com with your questions and interest in forming a group.
Movement Classes
These classes weave together improvisational movement, the play of opposites, evocative language, and images. This is for the ones with an itch, an urge they have to move in order to satisfy. This is for those who hear voices and who sometimes have songs unbidden playing in their heads, who had to sit in their seats but weren’t born to.
